Having Time, Money & Dreams - are These Fairytale Concepts in Today’s Economy?

By now we have all glimpsed the panic on the stock market, and heard the concerns for the economy and even learnt of the World Leaders having emergency meetings. It is rather concerning, especially if you are watching it 24/7. So, let's pull it back a level - where does it leave us - the average Joe Blow, with an average job and an average size family? More importantly, where does it leave our goals and dreams that we are all aspiring to achieve?

From a young age I was a dreamer, and I was very lucky to have parents that encouraged me to keep my dreams. Although they do like to give me their two cents from time to time, (I call it their "devil's advocate speech") - they allow me to strive for pretty much anything I put my heart into. In fact my biggest dream that I have kept for the last 10 years, is to own a yacht that will be tied up in Monaco! And I believe it is going to happen very soon now, even in this economy!

So, this brings me back to my original question though? In today's economy does that mean we have to sit tight, hold onto our dreams and wait until this storm is over? I mean, if we are heading towards the times of a recession - are we only allowed to focus on the bread and butter, and not the sweet spread as well?

Well, it certainly isn't going to stop me from striving for my goals - in fact it only makes me more determined. Yes, we could all get into a panic and put our cash under the pillow, along with any aspirations of freedom.  What is this going to achieve, apart from sadness, worry, fear and a focus on the negative?

Humans were given minds - why not use yours in a productive way. Rather than enter "Panic, Fear, Broke" into our search engine of the mind - put "How can I have time & money during this time?" and "What are my dreams?" and also, "What is fun about this situation?"

The results of these searches will make for a far more interesting day! Once you have entered those questions, allow your mind to come up with 20 answers - some may be ridiculous, but it's usually the ones just after those that give you results! Make sure you strive for the 20!

I've put together six points that you can follow to encourage your success through these interesting times!

Remember that Obstacles are just detours in the road - look out for what you are meant to learn on this scenic route towards success!

  • Ask yourself "What am I learning from this situation that will help me achieve my goals?" or "How can I make this situation work for me?"

Surround yourself with people who are achieving similar goals in these times. Read Biographies of leaders, those you aspire to become... it's their values, beliefs and determination you will want to replicate!

  • Ask yourself "Who is it that I aspire to be like?" or "What would Oprah / Richard Branson / etc do in this situation?"

Continue to dream - this is your birthright. Even Viktor Frankl continued to dream whilst in a concentration camp - it is what kept him living and surviving unbearable conditions. As he said "Those who have a 'why' to live, can bear with almost any 'how."

  • Ask yourself "What are my dreams?" or "What is my top 100 things to achieve list?"

Always do something towards your goals - even if it is to remind yourself by looking at a picture of it, or visualise yourself doing the goal - feel how it feels, sounds, looks.

  • Ask yourself "What does it feel / look / sound like when I achieve my goal?"

Be grateful for what we do have - guaranteed you could list at least 10 things to be grateful for... focus on these if you find yourself down. It will cheer you up in no time!

  • Ask yourself "What are 10 things I am grateful for today?"

Have Fun  - turn any situation into an entertaining one... I always say, if in doubt, LAUGH!!! If someone says No... Laugh! After all, the journey to your success is what it is about, you may as well have fun doing it!

  • Ask yourself "What is funny about this situation?"

So, where to from here? Do you work harder and save, invest in property, try and take advantage of the stock market, or what else? That is where you need to listen to your own instincts and do your own research. That is each individual's own personal journey. What you enjoy doing will be the best start. Be clear on your goals - "Focus on the "Why", and let the "How" happen!"

One 'How', which I have found suits me - is in a home based business. It is a way of making an executive level income working part time hours, enjoying time, money and the lifestyle of your choice. This option may or may not be for you, but if you don't check it out, how will you know? www.freelifestylebiz.com

Good Luck, enjoy the journey - and continue to dream your hearts out!! J I will leave you with a short but very profound quote by Henry Ford: "Whether you think you can, or think you can't, you're right"
